IGJEO: Water levels in Mat, Ishëm, Erzen, Shkumbin, and Seman rivers are expected to rise

TIRANA, Jan 8 /ATA/ The Geo-Science Institute (IGJEO) has stated that, according to hydrological forecasts, the heavy rainfall over the past few days and today will cause an increase in water flow and levels in the Mat, Ishëm, Erzen, Shkumbin, and Seman rivers.
IGJEO warns of an elevated risk of flooding today along the Vjosë River, the Drin-Buna River, and Lake Shkodra. However, starting tomorrow, Friday, January 9, a decline in flow rates and water levels is expected across all rivers.
Snow is forecasted to fall in the northern, eastern, and southeastern regions today and tomorrow.
The combination of snow, a sharp drop in temperatures, and frost may cause disruptions and difficulties in road travel.
Meanwhile, moderate to locally intense rainfall is expected in the Shkodër, Kukës, and Lezhë regions, while moderate rainfall is anticipated in Dibër. Light to locally moderate rainfall is forecasted for the Durrës, Tirana, and Elbasan regions, while the rest of the country is expected to experience light rainfall. The rainfall will be accompanied by showers and gusts of wind.
In the northern, eastern, and southeastern regions, snowfall is expected at altitudes above 300 meters above sea level.

On Friday, the forecasted air temperatures will range from: 2 to 12°C along the coast, -2 to 9°C in the lowlands, and -6 to 6°C in the mountainous areas.
Today and tomorrow, moderate to strong winds are forecasted along the coast and in the mountainous regions.
