TIRANA, Feb  8 /ATA/ On the new Lungomare of Durrës, work is on full swing on the first phase of 2 km stretch, which is set to be completed in June.

This infrastructure project is an investment with high economic impact, which will add value to tourism in the coastal city.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Wednesday on social media pictures from the work site for the construction of the Durrës waterfront promenade (Lungomare).

On Tuesday, Rama inspected the works in this Lungomare, where he emphasized that, “the project for significant expansion of the sandy surface from the sea is being designed in parallel and its implementation will start at the end of the tourist season.”

The new water front promenade will consist of 3 km coastline, green areas, parks and sports grounds. Along the entire coastline there are about 58 hotels with 3100 beds.

The project takes on great importance given that during the tourist season, the population in this area increases by 600 thousand inhabitants.
