This topic takes on special importance in the face of climate change which is having an adverse impact on water basins due to drought, threatening the ability to meet demand for water supply as well as the continuous floods that compromise its quality.

Specificity of importance of valuing water for Albania are overconsumption with an average of over 300 liters of water per day / person, very large water loss level estimated at over 65%, coverage of the whole country with wastewater treatment plants, as well as compliance with technical standards on septic systems.

Through the online round table that brought together water representatives in the country and the region, such as water utilities, regulators and donors, the head of the Water Regulatory Authority in Albania put the emphasis on raising awareness and public communication through all the necessary instruments, as well as education on irreplaceable values of water starting from the preschool system.

In the second technical session of the conference, the specialist of the Water Regulatory Authority, Ana Ismailaj spoke about the high costs of water supply and sewerage companies, outlining four alternatives for reducing the debt accumulated over the years.
