The delegation of the Financial Supervisory Authority (AMF) was composed by Merita Gurabardhi, Aranit Muja and Lusjana Lloji and participated in the discussions on key issues of insurance and pension market supervision.

During the meeting, there were addressed topics related to natural disaster risk and climate change, the insurance protection gap, supplementary pension systems, recovery and extraordinary intervention in the insurance sector, as well as reinsurance practices.

According to the AMF, participation in this forum supports Albania’s European integration process, particularly in terms of aligning insurance, pension and consumer protection supervision with the standards and best practices of the European Union.

The exchange of regional experiences is considered an important contribution to strengthening the framework for the supervision of the non-banking financial market and increasing market stability in Albania. /j.p/p.s./

During the “Three Seas Initiative” summit held today in Poland, President Begaj emphasized the significance of Albania’s full membership in this strategic platform.

“Our presence within the “Three Seas Initiative” would further consolidate the southeastern wing of this initiative and would increase its role in the strategic perspective, especially in matters of security, cooperation, democratic sustainability and transatlantic coordination”, stated Begaj before leaders of the member countries and strategic partners of the initiative.

Albania, as a member of NATO and in fruitful negotiations for EU membership, guarantees with its presence the Three Seas Initiative consolidation and brings common progress.

President Begaj once again emphasized Albania’s role as an important contributor to regional security and a bridge between Southeast Europe and the Euro-Atlantic space.

During his speech at the summit, Begaj stated that Albania is clear and determined to be part of the “Three Seas Initiative”, as it strongly believes in the fundamental values ​​of this project and such an aspiration is based on conviction and contribution.

While describing the “Three Seas Initiative” as a necessary pillar for continental stability in the face of geopolitical uncertainties, Begaj stated, “We believe that this platform offers concrete opportunities for common progress and we are also more than convinced that Albania would be an added value to the initiative, both in political and economic terms”.

Head of State listed Albania’s latest steps in the European Union accession negotiations, reaffirming Albania’s will to close them within two years and full membership in the Union in 2030.

Emphasizing the importance of connectivity through projects, Begaj underlined during his speech at the summit that Albania is committed to develop infrastructure in the energy, transport and digitalization sectors.

Begaj also used this summit to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts as well as with high-ranking personalities from the participating countries. /j.p/p.s./

In his speech delivered at the High-Level International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine in Warsaw, Poland, Rama said that, “I know that this will not change the destiny of the war and reconstruction, but we feel very honored to be here and I am very grateful to the prime ministers of Poland and Sweden that made us part of it.”

“We will do our best to fulfill our obligations to our Ukrainian friends and the people of Ukraine. We aim for what everyone here wants, the end of this war and peace as soon as possible,” Rama said.

PM Rama said that, “Albania is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. We are also co-penholders with the USA for Ukraine. And in coordination with other like-minded countries, we are giving our contribution by initiating meetings and drafting documents related to the war and in full support for Ukraine.”

On the other hand, Rama continued, in the bilateral plan, we were among the first to give our contribution with ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Meanwhile, we have approved the entire legal framework that allows every Ukrainian citizen to come to our country for a period of time as long as he needs or wishes to,” said PM Rama./k.s/p.s./

Attending the conference are heads of state and government.

The conference is dedicated to the common goal of supporting the UN humanitarian response in Ukraine and to discuss further steps towards supporting Ukraine’s efforts to address the economic challenges caused by the war.

The participants in the conference will discuss on concrete measures to respond to the humanitarian disaster caused by the war, where, according to the UN, millions of people are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, including food, medical supplies and shelter.

In response to the rapidly growing needs, the UN has set up special structures to enter the worst-hit areas to help save lives, deploying experts, for coordination, community engagement, protection and information management. Meanwhile, more is required from the international community to respond to the intensity of these needs.

Albania will also be ranked alongside the contributing countries, a commitment that Prime Minister Edi Rama will express during this Conference.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also address the conference via video message. /j.p/p.s./

An event – Chopin meets LOT at Tirana International Airport – and a concert was held in the transit area to mark the beginning of scheduled flights of LOT Polish Airlines to and from Tirana International Airport to Warsaw.

The event was hosted by TIA, in collaboration with the Frédéric Chopin Association, Pro Musica Ensemble, Music Schools, with the support of the Embassy of Poland in Tirana.

More than 30 artists performed in concert at the transit area under the baton of maestro Zhani Ciko. The unique event drew attention of the passengers at the gates while boarding to different destinations

“LOT Polish Airlines has been our partner for charter traffic for a long time, and having LOT now as a permanent airline for scheduled traffic at TIA means a lot for us and also for the guests from Warsaw, who would like to visit Albania. Three times per week, both Warsaw and Tirana will have much to offer. We are connecting Poland to Albania, this is a major achievement and there is no better way to celebrate this than with talented Albanian artists” TIA’s Chief Executive Director, Dr. Constantin von Alvensleben said.

The ceremony for LOT Polish Airlines and the concert afterwards took place in the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Megi Fino, LOT Polish Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Michał Fijoł, Chief Executive Director of TIA, Constantin von Alvensleben and the Polish Ambassador in Tirana, Monika Zuchniak Pazdan and Albanian Ambassador in Warshaw,  Shpresa Kureta.

LOT Polish Airlines started operating three times per week to and from Tirana International Airport, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sunday. LOT offers excellent onward connections to JFK Airport in New York and Toronto in Canada.
