On August 20, 2024, after an intensive cooperation and exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Athens, the wanted citizen Kujtim Demiri was put under arrest and extradited from Greece.

This citizen was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana on January 6, 2018, after the Court of the First Instance for Serious Crimes sentenced him to 15 years in prison, for the criminal offense “Trafficking of minors”, provided by the Penal Code.

According to the decision, the citizen Kujtim Demiri took the minor child H.S from Albania to Greece and used him to beg in Greece by force.

By significantly increasing the exchange of information and the use of all forms and methods of police work, it has been possible to detain and bring to Albania, with the aim of bringing to justice, many persons declared wanted internationally.

Only in the first 7 months of 2024, there were detained 80 persons declared wanted internationally for the purpose of extradition to our country, of which 74 Albanian citizens and 6 foreign citizens.

Meanwhile, during the same period, 58 persons declared internationally wanted were extradited and transferred to our country, of which 53 Albanian citizens and 5 foreign citizens. /m.m/r.e/a.f/p.s./

“We are working in cooperation with the Interpol to find the persons wanted by justice, to end impunity for persons who are hiding in other countries or in Albania”, said Balla.

He congratulated the State Police, the General Prosecutor’s Office, Interpol Tirana and Interpol Seoul, as well as the General Secretariat of Interpol (Fugitives Investigative Support (FIS) Sector), for the cooperation, coordination and successful finalization of the detention and extradition of a convicted citizen with life imprisonment for serious crimes against the person.

Yesterday evening, there was finalized the extradition of a 50-year-old citizen, sentenced to life imprisonment, arrested as part of the joint police operation with Interpol Seoul code-named “Support”./p.s./

Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla congratulated today Interpol Tirana, which in cooperation with the partner units in Germany and Greece, located, arrested and today extradited to Albania two people, members of criminal groups involved in drug trafficking.

The citizen E. D. is accused that during the period January 2018-December 2022, he was part of a criminal group that trafficked large quantities of drugs in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Germany.

While, the 43-year-old citizen V. H. is accused of attempting to traffic cannabis sativa narcotics towards Greece in collaboration with other citizens. /m.m/p.s./

Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla broke the news writing in the social media that the State Police is cooperating intensively with the Interpol to detain the wanted persons putting an end to impunity.

“Another person sentenced to life imprisonment has been found and detained by Interpol Tirana and partner agencies. He had been hiding for many years in South Korea. I expect other operations in cooperation with partners, with the aim of finding, detaining and bringing before justice citizens who are a concern and a danger to the community where they live”,wrote Balla in the social media.

The extradited 43-year-old Behar Bajri was declared an international wanted as part of the coded police operation “Metamorphosis”.

As a result of the continuous cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Paris, for the capture of citizens wanted internationally and their extradition to the countries where they must serve their sentence, Bajri was extradited to Albania.

He was detained and arrested in France in September thanks to the exchange of information between the Albanian and French police about his location.

Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla congratulated the State Police, the French Police and INTERPOL for their cooperation in finding the wanted persons by Albanian justice.

“Impunity will come to an end. The arrest of the most-wanted person by the Albanian justice, Dritan Rexhepi, thanks to the excellent cooperation of a number of law enforcement agencies from several partner countries, is a significant result”, wrote Balla in the social media.

The Turkish Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced today that head of the drug organization “Kompania Bello” Dritan Rexhepi has been arrested during the police operation named “Cartel” in Istanbul.

Rexhepi is accused of cocaine trafficking, but also of participating in hostage-taking and murder. He was wanted by Italy and Albania, while carrying fake Ecuadorian passports under the name Benjamin Omar Perez Garcia.
