TIRANA, Jan 5 /ATA/ – Albanian government has allocated around 40 billion lek or 400 million euros to support an important wages reform launched in 2023, envisaging significant pay hike for teachers, doctors and nurses, the police and servicemen and other public sector employees under the 2024 state budget.

Public sector employees will receive new salary increase in the first half of this year as part of the reform launched by the government last year to increase the average salary to 900 euros within this year, the Minister of Finance and Economy Ervin Mete said at a press conference on performance of the national economy on Friday.

“It is important that growth and economic development are balanced and comprehensive, paying attention to the social categories and the human capital as the main factor for sustainable growth. As part of the reform launched last year, the public sector wages will see significant increase in the first half of 2024 so that we can deliver on the goal to increase average salary to 900 euros within this year,” he said.
