TIRANA, Sept 26 /ATA/ The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Blendi Gonxhja, announced today that the new plan endorsed by the Council of Ministers seeks to safeguard the distinctive character of the village of Vuno.

Through a post on social media, Gonxhja stated that the plan is intended to provide greater clarity for residents regarding the maintenance, restoration and re‑use of traditional houses.

“Vuno, the picturesque village of stone houses overlooking the Ionian and its characteristic alleyways, for which yesterday, at the government meeting, we approved the new plan for preservation, protection and management,” wrote Gonxhja.

According to the Minister, the plan seeks to preserve the village’s characteristic identity while creating opportunities for its revitalisation and for the sustainable development of cultural tourism and the local economy.

Gonxhja underlined that the initiative is expected to give residents greater scope for interventions in traditional dwellings, while safeguarding the cultural and architectural values of Vuno.

The Council of Ministers yesterday approved the decision to designate the village of Vuno as an immovable cultural asset and historic centre, as well as to define its protected zone.
