TIRANA, March 14 /ATA/ – Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic affirmed Monday that his country will allow exports of wheat and flour to Albania and other countries in the region.

In an interview with Dnevni Avaz, the most influential and best-selling daily newspaper in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia’s Vucic commented on the Ukraine crisis and whether Serbia will ultimately decide to ban its wheat exports to the countries in the region and whether a fresh economic crisis would grip the Balkans.

“Of course, we have sufficient quantities of wheat for Serbia, but we will be open to others in the region too. The first requests were based on the agreements we have had with Albania and we will allow export of wheat to this country soon,” Vucic said.

Vucic announced that Serbia would prohibit exports of vegetable oil, maize, wheat, and flour starting last Thursday in a move to ensure stable prices for both the country and the region in case Russia halts exports of wheat and corn.
