TIRANA, May 13 /ATA/ DHL, the postal service in charge of delivering ballot papers to registered voters abroad, has replied to State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi concerning his request for details about the distribution of electoral documents in Greece.
According to the company, each delivery includes proof of receipt.

“Among all the verification requests, only 5 cases across all countries, including Greece, are currently being followed up for verification. Each delivered package includes proof of receipt. In total, 4,779 return packages were collected from homes by couriers.”

“18,489 packages were dropped off by voters at DHL service points, and 25,920 packages were delivered to DHL’s local partner locations,” DHL emphasizes.

Additionally, DHL’s response noted that the shipments were handled according to standard procedures, which required a Direct Signature from the recipient at the time of delivery.

“The local partners are part of the network with whom DHL Greece collaborates (Exclusive Trusted Partners), and they fully follow and comply with the procedures established by DHL, including those related to the delivery of election materials to Albania,” the letter emphasizes.

DHL stated that SMS or email notifications were sent to all shipment recipients without exception.
According to DHL’s response, “Notifications were sent starting from the creation of the AWB (tracking number) in Tirana and were continuously provided thereafter, including frequent updates on the shipment’s location at service points when delivery couldn’t be completed or if there was an incorrect address. This standard was followed in all countries, including Greece.”

The DHL letter comes in the midst of the debate sparked by the Democratic Party’s request to the Central Election Commission, urging that the boxes with ballots from Greece be handled separately and not mixed with the other votes.
