On Wednesday afternoon, the “Fiks Fare” broadcast aired the vote buying scheme in the April 25 elections.
Outside the premises of a polling station in unit no. 2 in Tirana, persons introduced as representatives of the SMI gave 10 000 lek in exchange for an identity card.

After getting signals that near a polling station in Unit no. 2 some young people were standing outside to offer money in exchange for an identity card, one of the Fiks Fare journalists showed up at this polling station. While looking for her name on the lists posted, she is approached by a person who asks if she has voted. The journalist replies that she has not voted yet and was looking for her name and of her family members on the list.

In these moments the young man introduces himself as a representative of the SMI and asks her to speak privately somewhere else that is not monitored by camera. He asks how many family members are eligible to vote. The Fiks journalist replies that there are 4 people in her family who are eligible to vote and at this moment he asks her to keep secret what he will ask for in return.

He asks her to persuade her family members to vote for the SMI against payment.

The Fiks journalist asks how she can do this by going inside and voting for Socialist Movement for Integration, but the representative of this party says: “Nobody tells you to vote for this party, suffice it to give the identity card. That’s it! ” he says. He then tells them that they should not vote just give ID cards and that they would do the voting process with the family cards.

While the “Stop” broadcast last night showed how votes were bought in April 25 elections in Lezha, where SMI members have bought votes for 50 thousand old lek or 50 euros on behalf of the candidate Viktor Tusha.
