Gonxhja: Beach Volleyball, a new perspective for Albanian volleyball

TIRANA, January 11 /ATA/ In context of the 80th anniversary of the Albanian Volleyball Federation, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja held a meeting today with representatives of the European Volleyball Confederation, CEV, and the Albanian Volleyball Federation

During the meeting, they discussed on the latest developments in Albanian volleyball and opportunities to promote international cooperation.

Gonxhja spoke with Roko Sikiric, CEV president, Vuk Karanovic, Managing Director, Erlind Pellumbi, President of the Albanian Volleyball Association, and Konalsi Gjoka, Vice President.

According to the minister, during the meeting they discussed on the latest developments in Albanian volleyball as well as opportunities to promote cooperation between national institutions and European volleyball bodies.

The discussions also included perspectives for the future, with a special focus on the development of beach volleyball along the Albanian coast.

“We also discussed the prospects for promoting cooperation in the future, with a special focus on the development of beach volleyball along the Albanian coast, from Shkodra to Saranda, while contributing to the development of the sport and the promotion of sports tourism”, Gonxhja emphasized.

Gonxhja said that during the meeting there was appreciated the work done over the years by the Albanian Volleyball Association to develop this sport, as well as the role of institutional support in strengthening national teams and capacities.

“We emphasized the continuous contribution of CEV to the development of volleyball in Albania, through infrastructure projects in schools, training programs for teachers and coaches, as well as the organization of European activities and finals for young age groups”, the minister underlined. /m.q/j.p/p.s./

First time of a beach volleyball championship in capital

TIRANA, August 24/ATA/ For the first time, “Tirana Beach Volleyball, Open 2023” championship is set to be held in the capital. This is an activity in the framework of “Tirana, the European City of Sports”.

The project “Tirana Beach Volleyball, Open 2023” will offer a spectacle during the 3 days of the championship, on August 25-26-27 and aims to promote the sport of volleyball.

This sports event will be held in “Mother Teresa” square and aims to become a tradition for the capital.

20 teams have been registered in this championship, of which 12 are men’s teams and 8 are women’s teams.

During the 3 days of the championship, the teams will compete to qualify for the semi-finals and the grand final, which will be played on the afternoon of Sunday, August 27. /k.s/p.s./

Kumbaro: Volleyball championship on banks of Vjosa River

TIRANA, August 14/ATA/ Përmeti welcomes the “Vjosa River” volleyball championship for the fourth year in a row.

Minister of Tourism and Culture Mirela Kumbaro while making an echo to this sports event said that the championship takes place in the heart of the National Park of the last wild river in Europe.

“Volleyball in Vjosa. And the evening comes so beautifully with the moments from the ‘Vjosa River’ volleyball championship that for the fourth year in a row is organized in Përmet with many emotions in the heart of the National Park of the last wild river in Europe”, she said.

Motor Beach in Përmet is again welcoming volleyball matches, an annual activity that is becoming a tradition for this city.

The volleyball teams are giving emotions to the residents, but also to the many visitors who have chosen Përmet to stay in these August days.
