TIRANA, May 31 /ATA/ From May 17 to 31, Albania is hosting the latest edition of the European Cultural Weeks, a comprehensive celebration of art and culture spanning nine cities: Tirana, Kamza, Shkodër, Durrës, Elbasan, Vlorë, Korçë, Berat, and Pilur (Himarë).

Last night, the event “Vëndçe” was held in the village of Pilur, Himara, returning to the place where it all began—amid voices that keep a rare heritage alive.

According to the European Union’s press release, the event—graced by the presence of EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato—featured a screening of Lorin Terezi’s documentary, accompanied by discussions and traditional polyphonic songs that highlighted the deep bond between voice, homeland, and Albanian cultural identity.

Featuring a varied schedule of over 45 events, this week acts as a vibrant stage for global collaboration, community engagement, and artistic innovation.

The program also includes talks with artists, forums for dialogue and reflection on the role of art in society, transforming Albanian cities into open stages for critical thinking and collective creativity.

Europe Week 2025 serves as a collaborative space where culture acts as a bridge connecting citizens, communities, and European values. This initiative does not aim to define Europe but to amplify the voices of those who live and reimagine it through the shared language of art.

Following Europe Cultural Week, the International Cultural Weeks—an initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation—will continue with Italy, followed by showcases from Israel, Sweden, France, and other countries.
