TIRANA, Dec 16 /ATA/ – A large flock of birds over the Shushica River, also known as the Vlora River, has drawn attention to the area as rural tourism in southern Albania continues to attract nature enthusiasts.

Footage showing the birds circling above the river was recorded on a mobile phone and shared on social media by Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday morning.

“A bird spectacle from the Vlora River,” Rama wrote.

The river, which flows through villages in the coastal Vlora region, has become a year-round attraction for both local and foreign visitors interested in nature, history and traditional life.

The Shushica River rises in the village of Kuç and flows into the Vjosa River. It is an important resource for local communities, providing drinking water and irrigation due to its steady flow.

The area is also home to the Brataj Bridge, a cultural heritage monument spanning the Shushica, which remains a popular site for visitors.

TIRANA, June 11 /ATA/-By I.Vata/ – Work on construction of another section along the Vlora river project is heading towards completion, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Saturday, adding that Vlora river road is another work needed to improve tourist infrastructure in Albania’s southern coastal region.

The government head noted on a post via social networks that the road segment connects the river area with coastal towns and villages of Himare, Qeparo and Borsh.

“This section connects entire Vlora river area with the coastal areas of Qeparo, Borsh and Himare, which, along with the connection with the areas of Kuç, Gusmar and the roads traversing the areas of Labëri, Nivice, Salari and Tepelene, will allow for exploration and best exploitation of the incredible potential of the mountain-seaside combined tourist offer,” PM Rama said posting pictures showing the new road.

The road segment connects two national roads and includes an exit road stretching to the city of Vlora.

With a 23-km length, the road section between Ura e Laskos, Kuç and Qeparo finally completes the investment that is expected to significantly improve living conditions of local residents in the villages along Vlora river.

The improved road infrastructure would also boost tourism industry allowing for greater mobility, consequently revenue through shortening distances supporting the development of local economies in coastal areas.
