The Minister underlined that the project also includes education programs for children and young people, particularly focusing on immersive 3D information and virtual reality technology.

Gonxhja visited the museum along with Ardit Bido, the Socialist Party candidate in the coastal city of Vlora.

“Together with colleague Ardit Bido and the team of historians we plan to renovate the museum, a landmark site in history of Albania’s state formation. By adopting a new, contemporary and innovative approach we aim at enriching the museum’s collection, improve visitors’ experience, education and learning experience by specifically focusing on the immersive information and virtual reality technology for children and young people,” Gonxhja said.

The National Independence Museum, founded in 1936, is located near the port in the city of Vlorë. It is a small two storey house that Ismail Qemali first raised the Albanian flag in 1912. The house was then the site of the government for its first six months.

The museum contains 2 rooms and 2 corridors, all beautifully decorated in the 19th century style, with original furniture, authentic records, works of art, artefacts, the declaration of independence, and other valuable items of national interest.
