Vata/ – Vlora bypass, a recently-built 29-km road network bypassing the southern coastal city of Vlora and the latest major infrastructure project in Albania, has significantly improved access to the country’s southern Riviera during summer tourist season in particular.

Prime Minister Edi Rama posted Sunday images showing the new Vlora bypass and some of the comments shared by the road users, saying the investment has improved traffic flow and access to Albanian Riviera now reachable in just few minutes.

“Good morning and via images showing the newly-constructed Vlora bypass road and the stunning panoramic view of the new segment that has shorten distance and the travel time to the Albanian Riviera and has significantly improved traffic flow to the coastal city of Vlora, providing ‘fresh horse power’ to local tourism, I wish you all a peaceful Sunday,” PM Rama said via social networks.

The new road links Levan-Vlora highway with the existing national coastal road between Vlora and Saranda, and it provides local farmers quick access to the local markets and will have an impact on the development of agriculture and agritourism in the area.

The bypass road project is co-funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union.

The 29-km new road is expected to have a significant impact on development of tourism.

Speaking at a press conference after inspecting the new road, Prime Minister Rama noted that EU Commissioner Várhelyi is visiting the project after he was unable to attend the inauguration ceremony on July 7.

“We are returning together with the Minster of Infrastructure and the Albanian Road Authority team that are still tackling details of the road track, deliver on further improvements in terms of environmental and urban requalification, as a precious friend of ours, apart from being the Commissioner for Enlargement, was able to be with us here today after being unable to attend on the intended inauguration day of the bypass on July 7,” PM Rama said.

The government head also underlined that Albania expects the accession negotiations with the EU to formally start as soon as possible.

“The parliament of North Macedonia has already convened and most likely and hopefully, after an extremely politicized debate, it will eventually adopt after the final French proposal,” PM Rama added, noting that “Albania can do nothing but wait and hope to see the green light on as soon as possible.”

TIRANA, July 16/ATA/ Vlora Bypass road opened to traffic on Friday, the new panoramic axis will significantly improve the road traffic flow during the peak season.

The Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama accompanied by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku attended today the opening of this axis, said that, “this is long-awaited news and whoever is leaving for the south, to cross from Vlora down to the coast of the Ionian sea, will have a completely different opportunity, as now, they will be able to cross the axis easily even in a fragment of nature previously unexplored or enjoyed, with a panoramic trip that introduces every vacationer, visitor, tourist into the holiday climate.”

“They can also make good use of their time in an exemplary way, as the project was problematic. The problems were endless in terms of stagnation, expropriation. Now, here we are. In the fall there will be no construction site here,” the premier Rama stressed.

“As we promised, today we are ready to open the Vlora Bypass. This is a temporary opening, as the construction works are still going on, but nevertheless we have taken all road safety measures. The bypass is passable from all sides, there is no blockage. In all points considered highly critical, due to the ongoing works in the two entrances to Kanina, appropriate measures have been taken. While work is underway on the construction of the Bridge 3, as well as on the installation of traffic lights to improve the road traffic flow from both sides,” Minister Balluku said.

“Everything goes according to plan. The traffic flow starts at 7 o’clock to be bypassed from the entrance of Vlora in this segment and, certainly all the volume of traffic from the south will no longer pass through Radhima or Vlora, as the roundabout of Orikum will improve the traffic flow,” she added.

“During a general test along with the State Police, we covered the distance in about 20 minutes travelling at 60 km/h, and at 30 and 40 km/h in axis where traffic signals were installed,” Minister Balluku added.

The bypass road project is co-founded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union, worth 37 million euros.

The 29-km new road is expected to have a significant impact on development of tourism and it will significantly improve the road traffic flow in the coastal city of Vlora and along the southern coast of Albania. //a.i/

The Albania’s Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku inspected today the works on this important axis expected to facilitate the movement to the south coast.

“We are committed to complete works on July 15 to open this road axis. We have requested the cooperation of the Traffic Police to ensure work goes ahead at a fast pace, the road will open provisionally, maintaining all the parameters regarding road safety, to give a breath to the movement to the south of the country,” Minister Balluku said.

In her remarks, Minister Balluku noted that, “during the weekends there is much traffic in Vlora, but those citizens seeking access to the south will use this road, which will enable reduction of traffic congestion in Vlora.”

The Minister Balluku also warned that along the road axis that will be provisionally opened, there will be a high presence of the Traffic Police, as the road will open to facilitate traffic.

“It is an important part of the corridors connecting the north with the south and the regions, which has been supported by the EU and the Western Balkans Fund- WBF,” Minister Balluku said. //a.i/

TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/ – Work is in full swing to construct Vlora Bypass road to make sure this important road infrastructure project in southern Albania opens to traffic during summer tourist season.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Saturday images showing the ongoing construction work on Vlora Bypass road project, set to open to traffic by mid-July.

“Good morning and through these images showing the challenging construction work on Vlora Bypass road, which we seek to make it passable to traffic by mid-July, I wish you all a nice weekend,” PM Rama said.

The 29 km road network bypassing the city of Vlora will improve the road traffic flow along the southern coast of Albania during summer tourist season in particular.

The new bypass road is being constructed in line with the highest safety standards.

The new road links Levan-Vlora highway with the existing national coastal road between Vlora and Saranda, and it provides local farmers quick access to the local markets and will have an impact on the development of agriculture and agritourism in the area.

The bypass road project is cofounded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union.

The 29-km bypass road project is expected to have a significant impact on development of tourism and it will help to significantly improve the road traffic flow in the coastal city of Vlora and along the southern coast of Albania.

Rest areas for vehicles are projected to be built at every 1.5 km along the road.
