Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that the airport will open on May 8.
“Only 3 days left until the first plane lands on the runway with the VLO code and the beginning of the gradual opening tests for final certification,” he stated.

This airport will provide 1,200 job opportunities and will be the second national airport in Albania, after the “Mother Teresa” Airport in Tirana.

Vlora Airport has a runway designed for 4E category aircraft, including wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus 330-340 and Boeing 777, which are suitable for accommodation at this airport.
With an area of 309 hectares, a 3.2 km runway, and an investment of 104 million euros, the southern gateway of Albania aims to give a significant boost to the region’s development, particularly to tourism in the country.

What sets this airport apart is its dedicated space for the Aviation Academy, and its dual purpose of serving both passenger travel and cargo transport. /j.p/sm/
