TIRANA, Dec 6 /ATA/ Albania’s tourism economy is booming again and recently the number of visitors has reached the pre-COVID-19 crisis levels. Arrivals of foreign tourists reached 4.9 million in the first nine months of 2021, compared to 2.1 million in the same period a year earlier.

The well-known online magazine specializing only in developments in the field of aviation, aeroTELEGRAPH, has dedicated an article to the developments in air transport in our country.

“The best years of Albanian tourism are on the horizon. And to handle the influx of visitors, one must invest in the country’s infrastructure. “Hotels, roads and new airports are being built (the last airport that was opened was the Kukës International Airport in the summer of 2021)”, according to the article written by Martin Dichler for the well-known flight site.

A few days ago, another important project, the airport in the coastal city of Vlora has kicked off. In April 2025, Vlora International Airport will be set to operation at a capacity of up to 3 million passengers, often demanded by the tourism industry.

“The Mediterranean airport is being built by an international consortium that includes the group from Switzerland and Kosovo, ‘Mabetex’ based in Lugano and the Turkish group YDA. For the founder from Kosovo of ‘Mabetex’, Behgjet Pacolli, who has long wanted to make such an investment in the Republic of Albania, this is a dream come truw, the article is quoted.

According to aeroTELEGRAPH, Prime Minister Edi Rama has a great vision for Vlora International Airport, so the new airport will offer for the first time intercontinental flights from Albania and thus will propel tourism into development especially in the southern coastal region of Albania.
