Early this month, the merger of companies registered in Switzerland, Mabco Construction, composed of Mabetex Group, which holds 50% of the shares, YDA Group with 48% of shares, and A Group ltd with 2%, was announced the winner for construction of Vlora Airport.

The investment value is EUR 103.966.030.

The President of “Mabetex” company, Behgjet Pacolli, outlined a few days ago the phases of the project.

The first phase that will last 2 years includes the construction of the airport and runway at an investment value of over USD 103 million and 500 thousand.

While the second phase, which will last 4 years, entails the development of ancillary infrastructure of business and tourism with an estimated investment value of hundreds of millions of euros.

He adds that this project is one of the biggest investments that a private company has ever made in the region.

The technical criteria in place meet those of category 4E, which is one of the highest categories of international airports starting from the runway which should be 3.2 km at length to the terminal surfaces and all other facilities that this airport should offer .

Also, Minister Balluku has announced that the airport in the future will be the home of “Air Albania”.
On the other hand, the Minister stressed that a new industry, that of aircraft maintenance, has shown interest for years, but now is the real opportunity to accommodate it in the new Vlora airport, creating a new sector within the aviation industry .
