TIRANA, Aug. 30 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Sunday shared comments by renowned Israeli history professor and author Yuval Noah Harari, who argues that social media algorithms are designed primarily to maximize user engagement rather than promote truth or trust.

Posting a video on social media, the government head described Harari as “one of the most forward-thinking minds of our time” and highlighted his analysis of how digital platforms influence human behavior.

According to Harari, the algorithms used by major social media platforms, Facebook, X and TikTok ,were not designed to foster trust or accuracy, but rather to increase user interaction and time spent online.

He argues that, through large-scale experimentation, platforms discovered that emotions such as fear, anger, hatred and greed generate the strongest engagement, encouraging users to react more frequently and share content more widely.

Harari contends that this dynamic has contributed to a highly stimulated online environment, where emotional responses are constantly amplified. While engagement can be beneficial in certain contexts, he warns that continuous exposure to heightened emotional states may have negative effects on individuals and society.

Drawing on biological and psychological perspectives, Harari suggests that humans are not designed to remain in a constant state of excitement or activation, arguing that excessive stimulation can ultimately become unsustainable.

He concludes that modern political and public discourse increasingly reflects this tendency, describing contemporary societies as living in a state of persistent overstimulation driven in part by digital media dynamics.

The visuals perfectly illustrate the picturesque, idyllic charm of the coastal terrain, while the tender notes of Albanian song “Luleborë” (Hortensia) hung in the background.

Some of the views are from Porto Novo Beach, views with the island of Sazan in the background, as well as views from her visit to the Zvërnec Monastery.

Ivanka Trump stayed for two days in Vlora. On Thursday evening, she was received at the government building by Prime Minister Edi Rama. On Wednesday, Rama also traveled to Vlora, where he met and had dinner with Ivanka Trump and a group of international architects.

Ivanka Trump has been to Albania several times in the Bay of Vlora, which she has also visited by helicopter. Her visit is primarily aimed at advancing the major investment project that she and her husband Jared Kushner have planned to make in the Bay of Vlora, in the area of the island of Sazan and in Zvërnec, an investment of 1 billion dollars for an elite tourist resort in these areas. /m.q/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, February 9/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the relations with the former leader of the Socialist Party Fatos Nano are great, while reminding that Nano willingly left the “chess” table.

Rama spoke today about his relations with the former chairman of the Socialist Party and former prime minister Fatos Nano after an interview of the latter in the media.

“What I can say about the relations with Fatos Nano! I have already talked about before; which is a very nice relationship today, because there is no interference in the political chess game between the actors. He has voluntarily left the chess table and has chosen to resign with a resignation after an election campaign that can serve as a point of reference. He has been here, being stripped of the interests and imposed dynamics of each actor who is at the chess table, has all the experience and calm to give me the right opinions when I ask him, which means that I am the one who asks for his opinion, he is not the one who is offered in case I do not ask , said Rama.

The prime minister praised the fact that he has the opportunity to have this communication with a former predecessor in the post of Prime Minister.

“The difference is that he did not have a predecessor with the right experience and the right talent to draw lessons from the experience and conclusions to help. I have it, it is an asset, luck and pleasure that in this task you have the opportunity to communicate with those who have had this task before “, stated the head of the government.

The prime minister said that this communication with Nano is improved by the fact that he has been in this position and knows the loneliness one feels in that position.

“I know that, to say the loneliness of the peak. At the top, there is fun, reigns and orders are given. At the top, the winds blow from all four sides. All the others with whom you have every day cooperated and thanks to them do the daily chores, do not exist, not that they do not want, they are there, but you are alone”, said Rama./p.s./
