In a press statement on Tuesday evening, the UK embassy in Tirana stressed that implementation of justice reform is fundamental for an independent and efficient justice system and for the future of Albania.

We encourage the Albanian Parliament to support the proposed vetting extension. The re-evaluation of all judges and prosecutors must be conducted in a fair and equal manner. This should ultimately lead to a further consolidation of the justice reform process and increase public trust in the justice system overall.

Earlier today, the EU delegation and the US Embassy in Tirana called on MPs to vote the proposed amendment for extension of the Vetting bodies’ mandate.
