TIRANA, January 11/ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla together with Mayor of Kurbin Municipality Majlinda Cara visited today the farm of farmer Flora Brozi in Mamurras.

The farm breeds about 120 heads of cattle and poultry and has been affected by the heavy rainfall of recent days, which has created difficulties for the normal livestock activity.

As a result of the situation created, it became possible to evacuate the herd of cattle, temporarily settling in the Fushë Milot area, in safer conditions.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in cooperation with the verification groups of the municipalities, its teams are on the ground to identify the damage caused to livestock, food reserves for animals and the agricultural sector.

“The evaluation process will serve to determine support measures for all farmers affected by the adverse weather conditions in the area,” said Salla. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, November 12/ATA/ The Parliamentary Committee for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights discussed today on the budget for the Albanian Authority on Access to Information on the Former State Security Service.

During the discussions, the opposition MP Enkelejd Alibeaj asked the Chairperson of the Authority Gentiana Sula about the people who will run in the upcoming elections of 2025 and the required deadlines for the verification of purity of their figures.

“It may happen that many of the potential candidates address you asking for a background check to confirm their integrity,” – said Alibeaj.

The Authority’s specialists, present at the Committee, explained the process.

“It would be better if these requests are sent 70 days before the elections. If they are sent at the same time, the necessary time to do the background check takes 20 days. Therefore, their self-declaration is the best possible solution”, explained one of the attendees.

On the other hand, Chairperson Gentiana Sula highlighted the fact that, “During the current year the Authority has scanned 7 million documents in the computer and I believe this process will take 2-3 years to be completed”. /a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, May 6/ATA/ The State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi and Deputy Commissioner Lealba Pelinku were today at the CEC premises in Lundër where the fingerprinting traces of the voters are being checked and verified in the electronic identification devices taken from the polling stations.

Speaking to the media, Commissioner Celibashi informed that currently there is taking place the data transfer to the central server of the Central Election Commission.

Celibashi said that, “This is the first phase of the whole data verification process that was taken during the voter identification process. After the first phase, copying the data to the central server, all the data will be cross-referenced on all the equipment used in the Polling Stations.

“Through the process of cross-checking the data, we will see if there will be cases of a voter voting in several different polling stations or within the same polling station.”

Citing a video posted on social media, Celibashi clarified that it had been said several times by both him and Deputy Commissioner Pelinku that the purpose of using this device was to record the fingerprints of all those who went to vote.

“Those who for various reasons have placed their finger several times on equipment or on various devices will be clearly identified and must be accountable to the competent authorities. To those who said that the device did not work, I tell you that the device worked, because the purpose was to identify the fingerprints that voters leave during the voting process “, said Celibashi./a.a/r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, March 19 /ATA/ – The Head of the Central Election Commission said Friday evening that 15 candidates on the parties’ lists for the April 25 parliamentary elections are being verified under the decriminalization law.

Asked during a televised interview about Tom Doshi’s case considering that the US Embassy in Tirana has demanded that Tom Doshi is barred from running in the general elections, Celibashi said he would refer the case to the Prosecutor’s Office to conduct a more profound investigation.

“As for the case concerning the candidacy of Tom Doshi, I have publicly stated that CEC will verify every candidate if there is a need to verify their status,” Celibashi said.

He said that around 15 candidates will undergo the verification process as there are indications for certain problems under the decriminalization law.
