Prime Minister Edi Rama on Monday shared the story posted by “The Guardian” about the Venetian-style masks produced in Shkoder.

“Venetian masks produced in Albania are the highlight of an article by ‘The Guardian’, with Shkoder described as the city not only hosting the local carnival tradition each March 20-22, but also a top supplier since 1996, with more than 20 000 handmade masks,” Rama wrote.

Venetian-style masks produced in a atelier in Shkoder, where artists hand-paint and decorate tens of thousands of masks, which festival goers love to wear throughout the carnival season around the world.

The atelier also features an exhibition hall, where visitors can admire luxury models decorated with gold or silver, adorned with feathers, Swarovski crystals and jewels. The exhibition is considered an additional attraction for foreign tourists who visit Shkoder, the “Venice of Albania”, famous for its lake and castle.
