Only about 30 minutes from the city of Shkodra, Velipoja has developed in recent years into a tourist attraction frequented mainly by families.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has published on social media pictures of this beach with healing sand and surrounded by green pine trees.

The beach of Velipoja is famed for a rich and varied landscape, clean sea, fine dark sand rich in iodine as one of the ingredients with curative properties, lagoons and fields.
Hundreds and thousands of vacationers from Kosovo and other countries choose the tourist village of Velipoja for their summer vacations.
Velipoja is included in the area called the Protected Water-Land Landscape and the Municipality of Shkodra is drawing up a project for the economic development of this area.

Called the “Gateway of the Alps”, through this project the Municipality aims to build an adequate infrastructure that will enable sustainable tourism and use of the territory throughout the year.
