Commenting on the reaction of the US Embassy to the latest event in Elbasan, Veliaj said in a televised interview that Albanian citizens will massively go to the polls to vote for the Socialist Party and kick out of political life these two figures who have incited only violence and divide.

“Looking at what happened, we witnessed their tactics, the 30-year-old culture of violence in politics, we went back to the ’90s, we saw people climb the high voltage poles and behind this ugly show are Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta who produce divide and violence. It was a sad story, but the vote will be a real tsunami in Tirana, it will come back stronger than the acts of barbarism. Tirana does not bow to intimidation! Elbasan does not submit to it either! When someone is killed in the middle of the city, you see the risk of gangs returning and the fear of taking to the streets, then this is the moment to vote for those who work, those who have nothing to do with violence, those who represent civility,’ Veliaj said.
