Together with the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, the young men and women planted 52 saplings in the Artificial Lake Park, which also coincides with the 52 weeks of the year.

The mayor underlined that good works require a lot of effort.

“Today we start a fantastic new year for Tirana and aware that the year we left behind was actually our best year. But I believe that good things always come with more effort, with more idealism and with more progress. Looking back brings no benefit at all, if we harness our potential, better days will lie ahead of us. It is up to us to destroy this city, just as it is up to us to propel it to development. Today I am very grateful to our volunteers. I wish everyone would take it seriously, go out and do sports activities. I see that a large part of the citizens have already started their activities after the holidays, but above all to give Tirana more oxygen. We have planted 52 trees today for the 52 weeks to come because we want every week to be characterized by this positive feeling”, stated Veliaj.
After planting one million trees, the municipality of Tirana will move ahead with its campaign to increase greenery this year as well.

Veliaj said that Tirana has no time to waste on exasperation and division, while it is gearing up to assume the Presidency of the Network of Balkan Cities, otherwise known as B40.

“We will launch a campaign to invite all companies, businesses, embassies, associations, various groups, voluntary organizations, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, institutions, to make the most of this planting season until April, and to make sure that Tirana have another 100 thousand trees. We will continue another beautiful initiative, which is the initiative of children who plant trees on birthdays,” Mayor Veliaj said.
