TIRANA, January 29 /ATA/ At the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD), there was promoted the new book of Ambassador Fate Velaj’s latest novel, “Mossanga”.

“Mossanga” offers a literary journey behind the Iron Curtain at the height of the 1960s, where memory, power and man in Albania intertwine into a deep and reflective narrative. During the conversation between Fate Velaj and publisher Bujar Hudhri, it was emphasized that “Mossanga” is not simply a historical novel, but a text that turns memory into language and power into human experience.

Attending the promotion event of the book was Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali together with writers, artists and intellectuals.

The minister spoke about the author’s multidimensional profile and his contribution to culture, art and diplomacy.

The “Mossanga” is a work that approaches the communist dictatorship not through indictment, but through recognition, reflection and sensitivity.

The author himself shared with the public his journey during the realization of this work, as well as the inspiration from real events of experience and events of that period.

Fate Velaj is the ambassador of Albania to Austria. He has written several books; he paints and is passionate about photography. He studied Art and Culture Management at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, December 16 /ATA/ In the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD), there was opened Fate Velaj’s exhibition entitled “The Americans”. The artist is inspired by the photography of Robert Frank in the 50s.

Prof. assoc. Albes Fusha, curator of this exhibition, appreciated Velaj as a cross-border artist who travels with the pen in literature, travels with the brush in painting, travels with the camera in photography.

“The Americans” is one of his travels which should be seen not simply as a contribution to the art of photography, but also to American culture in general”, said Fusha.

The exhibition is a selection of 70 images, an extract of hundreds of photos taken on his travels across America.

Fate Velaj did not intend to make a report with this exhibition. Photography has been in pursuit of one goal: to rediscover the photographic rhythms that Robert Frank experienced in the years 1955-1957 and to document everything that seemed to him changed in the daily life of Americans.

Prof. Albes Fusha said that Velaj is far from traditional photography methods. He often uses the camera without putting it at eye level, playing with chance.

The “The Americans” exhibition is created so that the images interact with each other. There is nothing random about their ranking. The selection is like words found with care and almost the same as the confessions of the novelist Fate Velaj.

The exhibition will remain open at the COD until the end of December./p.s./
