Vata/ The State Cadastre Agency Director General Artan Lame was in Berat on Sunday to give out the legalization permits upon completion of the process in the administrative unit of Velabisht.

In his remarks, Lame said that “Berat has changed beyond recognition. Today I found nothing in common with the painful reality here back in 2013.”

“One of the issues we wanted to push forward was legalization of houses. The truth is that legalization has progressed well along with the land registration and the completion of documentation. Now that no one doubts that legalization is a success story, we want to draw attention to the problems of agricultural land. However, in cities like Berat, the challenge is the lack of documentation for old houses in the Mangalem area or those in the Castle zone that were burned during the ’97 unrest. We have to work out a solution,” said Lame.

Lame also added that the Velabisht area has many constructions that are in legalization process and a good part of the residents are abroad.
