“We must not let the challenges of renewing documents hinder voter turnout in the elections. The diaspora has made, and continues to make, an exceptional contribution to the country. It is our responsibility to do whatever it takes to guarantee their involvement in any decision-making process concerning our nation,” said Hoxha.
Hoxha added that the approval will allow for a much wider participation of voters from abroad to register on the Electronic Registration Platform.

Hoxha said that the number of Albanians who will benefit from the approval of the acts is 520,000.

“Identitek is carrying on with its application tour with mobile teams in large cities abroad, where many Albanians reside. The number of Albanian citizens with voting rights whose identification documents have expired or are set to expire during this period is 520,000,” said Hoxha.

“We have an obligation to offer assistance and protect the rights of our citizens who live and work abroad,” said Hoxha.
“The Council of Ministers proposes that the validity period of identity cards and passports, which expires on May 11, be extended until May 31, 2025, for citizens residing abroad,” said Hoxha.

Hoxha urged the deputies to approve these acts “which are important for Albanian citizens living abroad, in order to fulfill the historic mission that the diaspora will have the opportunity to vote outside our country for the first time.” /j.p/sm/
