Prime Minister Edi Rama was on Friday in Berat where he visited the makeshift vaccination center for the elderly. The elderly thanked Prime Minister Rama for enabling their inoculation ahead of many other countries.

Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ogerta Manastirliu, said that, “in Berat in the mass vaccination center we have embarked on inoculation of our grandparents for several days now. In total, more than 3,000 grandparents have been vaccinated. Today we will reach the figure of 100 thousand vaccinations, only in the age group of 70 years and older.”

Meanwhile, Manastirliu said, we are preparing to start vaccinating the police and field journalists from tomorrow.

“From tomorrow we will start vaccinating the police forces and the field journalists, we will start with Tirana to rapidly spread all over Albania. Mostly we are following the combined vaccination schedule. So the risk groups, people who work in critical services, also include these two categories, police officers, field journalists and operators who will be part of the vaccine rollout as of tomorrow. Of course, we will continue with older age groups according to our vaccination plan, ” said Manastirliu.

Prime Minister Rama said: “I want to makes myself clear once more to make sure that no one will fall victim to hyenas and owls. The vaccine that came from Turkey, manufactured by the Chinese company Sinovac, is a vaccine that has proved successful. Its deployment is helping Turkey get out of the pandemic tunnel faster and faster, it is the vaccine preferred by the rich countries of the Middle East and all the Royal Crowns of those countries have received this vaccine, which is administered in many states. And the fact that it has not entered the EU yet is irrelevant to its efficacy, it is related to issues of a different nature, which are not our concern. Our main concern for the time being is to pull the Albanian people from the tunnel, to end this time of anxiety and uncertainty for grandparents, those with chronic diseases, risk groups and the entire population.
