The news was announced by Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, who states that, “thanks to the amazing job done by our vaccinators all over the country, we have managed to administrate 638,338 vaccinations, of which 192 thousand citizens have been fully vaccinated to be more immune to COVID-19.”

More than 760 thousand vaccines have arrived in Albania so far and the government aims to reach the target of 1 million vaccinations by June.

Large-scale vaccination is ongoing based on a blended schedule for persons over 60 years of age and employees of essential services such as staff of toll manufacturing and tour operators, etc.

The Albanian Telegraphic Agency saw first-hand this process with an increasing number of citizens interested in receiving the jab, which is the only weapon to fight the virus in addition to compliance with the Covid restrictions.

The citizens are gratified to see the day when they can get vaccinated and return to normalcy.

“Finally, our turn has come to get vaccinated. I could not wait to receive the jab, everyone should get vaccinated because the year we left behind was really tiring and stressful for everyone,” a citizen told ATA.

Another citizen told ATA: “We have been looking forward to this day. This is a vaccine that saves not only our lives but everyone else’s as it is a disease that you never know where it comes from. We will get over this difficult phase only through vaccination. Whoever manages to understand it, saves his own life and of the others. I guess now we will be much safer though we should not let the guard down.”

A 66-year-old man who had just received the jab told ATA that he had waited in line and received the jab. “I have to wait for 20 minutes now after the inoculation. We trust the science. After a year of lockdown, this vaccine has rekindled our hope. I will show up in a month to get the second shot.”

Another citizen said, “I came forward to get vaccinated and the family doctor referred me to this vaccination site. We are more confident now that we will get out of this hopeless situation. After taking the second dose we will go out to meet and hug our people. Young people should take it too because the whole world is taking it.

“The number of infections is dropping these days due to the vaccination process. The credit goes to the government and we also believe in it. We are happy and enthusiastic. It is a huge relief that people are getting vaccinated. All the people I know are looking forward to getting the jab,’ another man says.

“The registration process was orderly. Everything was meticulously arranged. Life and health stand above anything else. We will return to normalcy.”

Since the start of vaccination rollout «Albania smiles» 267 531 vaccinations have been administered so far.
