Veliaj also participated in the annual summit of mayors hosted by “Bloomberg Initiative,” in which Tirana also participates.
The summit is an opportunity to discuss issues of urban innovation and to share the experience of Tirana’s transformation.
Veliaj said that Tirana is undoubtedly one of the most successful examples, which is supported with grants from the “Bloomberg” Foundation.

“It is always a pleasure that Tirana is represented at the annual meeting of cities by Bloomberg. Tirana was part of the first cohort of cities that, with the former mayor, Michael Bloomberg, was involved in a series of transformations, while today, in our 8th year, Tirana is undoubtedly one of the most successful, which is supported with grantsby the “Bloomberg” Foundation, and is illustrating how with little funding, but with a lot of creativity, we can transform the city. Next year, Tirana will hold the Presidency of B-40, which is the largest network of cities in the Balkans, from Istanbul to Ljubljana. This will be a fantastic opportunity, as we did with the year of Youth and Sports, in the year when we hold the Presidency of B-40, to show many of the innovations, innovations and many transformations of Tirana and let’s share them with other cities,” said Veliaj.

He added that in this time in which we are living, good neighborliness carries a very special importance.
