Speaking during the “Flasim” podcast, the government head said the agency will address a wide range of issues, from improving the quality and volume of investments in social housing to enabling below-market housing opportunities for various social groups.

“This agency will also focus on strengthening local capacities in the field of urban planning and on simplifying development processes,” the Prime Minister noted.

Rama explained that the new body will also manage the Green Fund, to be created through developers’ mandatory contributions in the form of trees, as required by the latest legal amendments.

“The agency will manage the Green Fund, which will be established through contributions in trees – an obligation set for builders in relation to the total square meters of their projects,” Rama said.

The National Agency for Urban Planning, Development and Housing will focus both on social housing and on incentives to make home ownership more affordable for various social categories.
