TIRANA, August 6/ATA/ The Polytechnic University of Tirana (UPT) will open new Bachelor study programs in this new academic year in collaboration with the University of Technology of Compiegne in France.

Rector of the UPT, Prof. Dr. Akli Fundo said in an interview for ATA that, “This year, we open the Campus of the University of Technology of Compiegne in France at the UPT, which is one of the greatest achievements in Albanian higher education”.

“We have made a 5-year agreement between the two universities. In addition, there will be a framework agreement between the two governments (the Ministry of Education and Sports and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Science)”, Fundo emphasized.

Fundo said that, “There will be opened two programs, Bachelor in Computer Engineering and one in Electronic Systems. Teaching will take place at the UPT with Albanian and French professors. At the end, students will receive two diplomas, one from the UPT and one from French UTC. While in the third year, there will be opened a new Bachelor program in Mechatronic Engineering. The novelty of these double diplomas is that teaching takes place in Albania.”

Prof. Dr. Fundo stated that, “The French side invests around 1.6 million euros in 5 years and the Albanian side around 3.5 million euros”.

Regarding the preferences of young people for UPT branches, Prof. Dr. Fundo said that, “All branches at UPT are in high demand, especially in the Faculties of Information Technology, Architecture and Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. This year there are about 1800 quotas, the same as last year in Bachelor and Master”.
