TIRANA, October 11/ATA/ The Special Appellate College upheld the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission for the dismissal from office of the former judge of Tirana Neritan Cena.

Although former judge Cena managed to convince the Special Appellate College to overturn some of the findings of the Independent Qualifications Commission, the panel still ruled that the mitigation of evidence was not sufficient to restore the former judge in office.

The Independent Qualifications Commission dismissed Cena on October 6, 2020 for problems with wealth and professionalism. The former judge appealed this decision to the Special Appellate College, claiming that the findings of the Independent Qualification Commission were incorrect.

After the hearing session, the body of the Special Appellate College concluded that there are still problems with the wealth criterion, even though it rejected part of the findings of the Independent Qualifications Commission. Regarding the professional criteria, the Independent Qualifications Commission evaluated that Cena has reached the minimum qualifying level in the assessment of professional skills.

But, in conclusion the Special Appellate College ruled that new findings are insufficient to change the decision taken by the Independent Qualification Commission to dismiss former judge Cena, thus upholding the decision of the first instance./p.s./
