Media reported that an explosion went off near the house of judge Tonin Sterkaj in Shkodra on Sunday morning, causing material damages only.

In a press statement, the Union of Albanian Judges expressed solidarity with judge Tonin Sterkaj and his family, condemning the blast as a criminal act targeting all magistrates in Albania.

“The Union of Albanian Judges strongly condemns this heinous criminal act, which targets not only at judge Tonin Sterkaj but also at all judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania, who with strong commitment and under conditions of an extremely high workload, pressure media and political, try every day to give justice,” the Union said in its statement.

According to judges, the attack also aims not only to intimidate magistrates but also to undermine public order and security, as well as the rule of law and the rule of law in the country.

An investigation has been launched into the blast, with law enforcement agencies working to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive behind the attack.
