TIRANA, June  19 /ATA/ The labor market saw a further decrease in the unemployment rate at the level of 10.9% in the first quarter of this year.

INSTAT published the Labor Force Survey for the first quarter of this year. The data show that the official unemployment rate in the first quarter of this year, for the population aged 15 and over, marked a decrease of 0.4 percentage points, compared to the first quarter of 2022. The official unemployment rate for men is 10, 6% and for women 11.1%.

Compared to the same quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.4 percentage points for men and decreased by 0.6 percentage points for women.

According to INSTAT, the unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

The official unemployment rate for men is 10.6% and for women 11.1%. Compared to the same quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate has decreased by 0.4 percentage points for men and by 0.6 percentage points for women.

Referring to the data, the official unemployment rate for young people aged 15-29 is 22.5%. Compared to the first quarter of 2022, the youth unemployment rate has increased by 1.8 percentage points. While compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, this indicator has increased by 1 percentage point.

The unemployment rate for the 30-64 age group is 7.8%. In annual terms, this indicator has decreased by 1 percentage point, while compared to the previous quarter there is an increase of 0.2 percentage points.

But according to INSTAT, compared to the previous year, the youth unemployment rate has decreased by 0.7% in 2020.

Referring to INSTAT, for men, the joblessness rate is 0.4% lower than for women. The joblessness rate for young people aged 15-24 is 26.5% (27.0% for men and 25.9% for women).

Based on the estimates of the Labor Force Survey, during 2020, the number of persons in the labor force is 1,407,934. Women make up 44.6% of the workforce and men 55.4%. 1,243,345 people are employed with women accounting for 44.5% of employees and men 55.5%.

The number of unemployed is estimated at 164,613 people, of whom 45.5% are women and 54.5% are men.
The labor force participation rate for the population aged 15-64 is 69.1%.
