TIRANA, Nov 9 /ATA/ Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, announced on Tuesday that “Ballshi oil workers will be paid from the state budget for two years in a row.”

During a hearing at Parliamentary Committee for Production, Trade and Environment as part of the discussion on the 2022 budget, Balluku said that “the Council of Ministers has already taken the decision to cover the needs of 830 oil workers who are unemployed because Ballshi refinery has been closed down.

The Minister pointed out that Ballshi refinery is a private entity which has been privatized years ago.

In line with social responsibility, the state has compensated them last year and will compensate them in the 2022 budget, with a total amount of 300 million ALL.

“The wage for each Ballshi oil worker will be 30 thousand ALL. So 830 beneficiary oil workers will receive the unemployment allowance. If there are no changes on the side of private entity and the oil workers continue to be unemployed, we will cover their wage for 2023 either,” the minister said.
