TIRANA, May 8 /ATA/ – Albania is strengthening its role as a credible partner in migration governance through reforms, data-driven policies and international cooperation, Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari said at a United Nations forum on Friday.

Addressing the International Migration Review Forum at the United Nations, Lamallari reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to safe, orderly and regular migration grounded in human rights, international cooperation and engagement with the Albanian diaspora.

He said migration continued to play an important role in Albania’s economic and social development, as well as its European integration process.

According to Lamallari, Albania has adopted a comprehensive approach to implementing the Global Compact for Migration in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration and other international partners.

Lamallari highlighted three key areas of progress: improving migration data systems through the 2024–2030 National Migration Strategy, expanding legal migration pathways and labour mobility through regional and bilateral cooperation, and strengthening Albania’s capacity to manage migration in a “humane and orderly” manner.

He said Albania had improved inter-agency coordination, emergency planning and rights-based border management, while also advancing migrant return and reintegration programmes.

“Albania remains firmly committed to strengthening migration governance in line with international standards and shared responsibilities,” Lamallari said.

“We will continue investing in evidence-based policymaking, expanding safe and regular pathways, and deepening regional and international cooperation,” he concluded.

TIRANA, June 27 (ATSH) – Albania’s Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, Adea Pirdeni, presented the country’s efforts to modernize public services during the United Nations Public Service Forum held this week in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), the high-level gathering brought together policymakers, civil society representatives, and international organizations to discuss innovation and reform in public administration under the theme: “Five Years to 2030: Accelerating Public Service for a Sustainable Future.”

Speaking at the forum, Pirdeni outlined Albania’s ongoing reforms aimed at creating a more efficient and citizen-focused public administration, supported by digital infrastructure designed to bring institutions closer to the public.

“From digital governance to artificial intelligence in support of European integration, we’re working to show that even small countries can drive ambitious reforms,” Pirdeni said in a social media post on Friday.

The forum served as a platform for exchanging experiences and best practices among participating countries, with discussions centered on ways to boost the resilience, inclusiveness, and responsiveness of public institutions.

Participants included ministers responsible for public administration from across the globe, senior government officials, local authority representatives, and international partners, all sharing strategies to improve institutional capacity and accelerate digital transformation in public services.
