Beci said that talks with his counterpart also included the joint Albania-Montenegro project on the cross-border bridge on Buna River in Pulaj area.

“I informed my counterpart on the materialization of the project on the new bridge over Buna in Pulaj area, where progressive steps are being taken by the government of Montenegro towards implementation of the investment between the two countries,” Beci said.

Shkoder Mayor also said that he and Bajraktari discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two cities and expansion of these ideas and projects also with Montenegro’s communes of Tivar and Podgorica.

Last year, Albania and Montenegro signed an agreement to build a cross-border bridge on the Buna River. The two countries have also agreed to open a joint border checkpoint, Shen Nikola-Pulaj, near the bridge on the territory of Albania to improve the movement of citizens, facilitate cross-border traffic and boost tourism.

The 310-m long and two-lane bridge will also feature sidewalks and a bicycle-dedicated lane.
