TIRANA, Feb 26 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani stated at the 55th Session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday that a Southeast Europe-Ukraine Summit in Tirana on February 28 aims at supporting Ukraine and condemning the illegal Russian aggression.

Foreign Minister said that “by condemning the crimes committed in Ukraine, we are fighting for the human rights and a rule-based system.”

“On February 24, 2022, Russia launched its unprovoked, unjustified and illegal aggression on Ukraine. In the last two years, the Russian troops have been involved in a series of horrible war crimes and crimes against humanity: tortures, deportation of children, conflict-related sexual violence, unlawful attacks on civilians, movement or displacement of civilians, ill-treatment and execution of prisoners of war, arbitrary detentions and killings are just some of the things that are happening. Recently, the death of opposition leader Alexey Navalny has been added to these crimes – the latest episode in a series of horrific treatment of its opponents by the Russian regime,” Hasani said.

“The perpetrators of these crimes should be held accountable. We fully support the Investigation Committee and as a Human Rights Council member we will work hard together with allies and partners to deliver on the target to bring perpetrators to justice,” he added.
