The Border Security Command is a recently established law enforcement command within the Home Office, tasked with securing the UK border by carrying out immigration and customs controls for people and goods entering the UK.

Interior Minister Hoxha called for broader bilateral cooperation in the common efforts to combat organized crime and illegal trafficking by setting up joint teams.

“Based on the protocols signed by the two countries, I emphasized that we are looking for other spaces to expand cooperation through joint investigation teams,” the Minister of Interior said in a post on the social media.

The cooperation with the British authorities is efficient and is considered a success story.

“The cooperation between Albanian and British authorities to prevent illegal migration is proving very positive, significantly reducing illegal entries of Albanians into England. Operation ‘Marewood’ is a success story in improving operational cooperation between law enforcement agencies,” Hoxha said after the meeting.

Interior Minister praised the Albania, Kosovo and United Kingdom taskforce as a success story as it has delivered concrete results in addressing shared challenges, mainly Albanians’ illicit immigration into the United Kingdom.

The meeting also underlined the need to further expand this model of cooperation to include other important areas, including the fight against organized crime.

“Albania is committed to close partnership with the United Kingdom and contribute to safer Europe also through the contribution and assistance provided by Great Britain,” Interior Minister said in a post on the social media.
