TIRANA, April  6 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama assessed on Thursday that the signing of the agreement between the National Authority for Electronic Certification and Cyber ​​Security in Albania and the Cyber ​​Security Council of the United Arab Emirates is of strategic importance, as it concerns the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

During the joint press conference alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, after the signing of the agreement, Rama said that “we maintain fraternal relations with the United Arab Emirates, which has been present and came to our aid when we needed it the most.”

The Prime Minister focused on the support of UAE during the mass exodus of Kosovo Albanians to Albania.

“We have felt this friendship in recent years, which have seen very positive developments and an impressive number of exchanges that have created opportunities to develop not only sustainable cooperation programs but also build a connection and to explore together for more prosperity throughout this region,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister underlined the fact that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates arrived in Tirana, after having visited Pristina and Belgrade.

“He is here not only as a witness to the desire and willpower of the United Arab Emirates to join a shared and long journey towards a better future but also to contribute through support to normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations and to ensure that all countries together focus more on the future and are less attached to the past”, he said.

According to Prime Minister Rama, the agreement signed on Thursday takes on strategic importance, especially in the face of new threats to sovereignty and integrity, not by showing off tanks and planes that violate territorial integrity, but by attacking cyberspace to disrupt all state operations.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the help of the United Arab Emirates during the 2019 earthquake,  adding that today new neighborhoods with modern architecture and new lights of hope are shaping up in Durrës.

“We are also witnessing the kickoff of the most important development ever in the history of the country, the new tourist port of Durrës, which was made possible with the blessing of the UAE President. I want to thank your president as well as the people of the UAE who make our lives more beautiful, because not only we do not feel alone, but we feel extremely blessed.”
