Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj stated on Wednesday that translated into monetary value there are about 2.1 billion euros more declared as annual turnover during the first 7 months of 2024.

“There is another indicator that reflects economic development and increased consumption, which is attributable to the salary raise in the public sector, but also the increase in tourism. There is an increase in the declaration of the turnover of subjects. This increase relative to the 7-month period 2023 is about 45% more, or translated into monetary value, about 2.1 billion euros more declared as annual turnover during the first 7 months of 2024,” he said at a press conference.

According to Minister Malaj, the General Directorate of Taxes has had good performance in personal income tax collection, which has recorded a two digit increase.

“In the public sector, the increase in income tax collection is 21.4%, while in the private sector the increase in personal income tax collection, compared to the 7-month period of 2023, is 14.9% more” he added.

The current average salary in Albania is 710 euros, while the average salary in the public administration is 900 euros. /j.p/ sm/
