TIRANA, July 17/ATA/ Parliament Speaker Elisa Spiropali is paying an official visit to Turkey today.

Spiropali was received by Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş.

During a joint press conference after the meeting, Spiropali stated that, “During 2023, there was marked the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries.”

“We have witnessed how in more than a century this relationship has not only been strengthened, but especially in recent years it has been institutionalized in concrete forms of cooperation, in areas such as economy, health, security and defense, tourism, education, where the shared potential of this strategic partnership lies,” she said.

Spiropali emphasized that it does not often happen that relations between states have these strong pillars as a guarantee.

“Albania and Turkey produce and give the world security and peace, which are necessary at all times, but are of critical significance in the time we live in where the clouds of war are no longer on the horizon, but around our countries”, said Spiropali.

“We agreed to intensify the excellent cooperation between the Assembly and the Grand National Assembly both at the highest levels and between Parliamentary committees and friendship groups and lawmakers, as well as supporting the respective candidacies in multilateral Parliamentary organizations”, emphasized the Speaker of the Assembly.

“Albania is preparing and will cooperate closely with Turkey and other allies for the success of the 2027 NATO Summit in Tirana, taking into account the fact that Turkey will host the summit in 2026,” said Spiropali.

Speaking about economic relations, Spiropali said, “Turkey is Albania’s fourth largest trading partner. Turkish investments worth around 3.7 billion dollars have created, in addition to development, employment and new jobs. Around 15,000 Albanians work in Turkish companies operating in Albania.” /gj.m/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, December 22/ATA/ In line with tradition for the festive season, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj visited the turkey market in Baldushk, an area well-known for raising them.

He invited the citizens of Tirana, but also accommodation structures, such as hotels, guesthouses, etc., to buy turkey in Baldushk, as a way to contribute to the local economy of the area.

“When you buy a product produced in our village, you have contributed to the family of our village. This means that you have contributed to these children buying their school books, their clothes, to attend an after-school course, to engage in cultural activities, so I invite everyone to see it as a mission to ensure well-being in this community, to help the people who work their whole lives and all year with this product, which is a source of pride for our Tirana”, said Veliaj.

He described the Baldushk turkey as the best product of its kind in Albania and the Balkans.

“This area produces 30-50 thousand turkeys every year, which renders into 3-5 million euros in this single week of holidays, in this community. This land can produce economy, it can produce well-being and the fact that many of the farmers, who until yesterday worked the lands of the Greeks and Italians, today work their own land, raise their turkeys, cultivate their farm. It means that you can do good and economy here in Albania, too”, he said.

Praising the farmers for their hard work in raising organic turkeys, the mayor called on all citizens to buy the turkey in Baldushk. “It is an extraordinary opportunity, not to abandon this land. This land can produce economy; it can produce well-being. “Therefore, I invite all citizens of Tirana, all bars in Tirana, all hotels in Tirana, guesthouses, to buy only Baldushku’s turkeys,” Veliaj concluded. /m.m/a.f/p.s./
