TIRANA, June 4 /ATA/ Albania is the first country in the Mediterranean to meet the tuna fishing quota for 2023.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, who highlighted the positive results in the sector of fisheries.

“We have informed the ICCAT authorities that the entire annual amount of 264 tons, the maximum quota for our country, has been realized by Albanian ships and fishermen. “I am proud to see positive results in fisheries, which is one of the most successful Albanian sectors in the last ten years,” she said.

Krifca emphasized that the government has supported this industry in the renewal of the fleet, the installation of refrigeration equipment, the change of engines, tax-free diesel supply and has already included it in the national training scheme.

“We are witnessing a tenfold increase in employment and investments in fisheries, and we will continue to be by their side,” the min added. /af/sm/
