“I came here to bid farewell to Father Haxhi, with profound respect for this family, which is closely tied to the history of Kosovo, thanks to one of his sons, Hashim, and also connected to my family through Hashim. This is a sorrowful day, and on this sorrowful day, I stand here with you, Mother Hyrë, not as Edi’s wife, but primarily because I deeply understand what it means to be the parent of a politician, especially the mother of a politician. I have lived through this alongside Edi’s mother,” she said.
On this mournful day, Linda Rama stated that she stands with the entire Thaçi family, who are now grieving the absence of two men.

“I know better than anyone what it means to be the wife of a politician, especially the wife of a leader, where strong winds are constantly blowing and never cease. I experience it every day. But what I cannot possibly understand on such a sorrowful day is what it means to have a child with a gun in hand, fighting in the mountains, or being captive to their own love somewhere far away, in a place without a sky, where no one knows for how long. It must be an endless anxiety,” said Linda Rama.
“Therefore,” she continued, “I couldn’t stay in Tirana, but I wanted to be here today, next to Hashim’s mother and wife, the mother and wife of the commander, as we always call him at home, who, on this painful day of separation, must continue to be far away, in the fight.”
“I don’t believe any absence can be greater than the presence felt on a day like this. It transcends these walls, serving as a lasting reminder of the pain endured by tens of thousands of parents and women of this land, as well as the sacrifice made by the entire people of Kosovo who paid the dear price for freedom. May the earth be light on you, Father Haxhi!” said Linda Rama.
