TIRANA, July 20 /ATA/ Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, from the Assembly has stated that the draft Law “On the special treatment of students who attend the integrated second cycle study in General Medicine at Albanian public institutions,” is a long-term plan for the preparation, retention and strengthening of human resources in the health system.

“It is one of the most important laws that is introduced for the first time in terms of creating an enabling environment for the students who tomorrow will be our future doctors, to ensure special treatment through priority employment and the opportunity for soft loans, but also to provide groundwork for achieving our common goal, to guarantee that tomorrow we do not struggle with shortage of human resources in healthcare in the countryside and in the city,” Manastirliu said.

“We increased the salaries for health professionals, 70% until 2022, the salary of specialist doctors has increased by USD 500 and according to our two-year plan we will continue to increase the salaries of GPs and nurses, supporting them continuously. We continue to open specializations. In 2023-2024, we will continue to increase quotas for medical students, bringing it to 500 quotas. The strategy is to educate, develop and protect human resources, we are also moving in these directions,” Manastirliu underlined.
