The Director of the Albanian railways Ergys Verdho told a media interview that once the railway line becomes operational the citizens will travel to the international airport and to the coastal city of Durres at a record-breaking time.

Around 70 of the work volume has completed on construction of the Tirana-Durres railway and its branch leading to Mother Teresa airport , another major infrastructure project in Albania, and the railway project is set to complete next March.

The Tirana-Durres railway line has a length of some 35 kilometres, whereas the new rail link to Tirana’s airport will be 5.7 kilometres in length.

The rehabilitation of the Tirana-Durres railway will allow for safer and faster rail travel.

Verdho also confirmed that an international tender will be launched within the year to select the company for construction of the Vore-Hani i Hotit railway and construction work is set to kick off in 2025 and complete by 2029.
