According to the press release issued by SPAK, as part of the investigation into a criminal organization with international connections, at the request of the Special Prosecution, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has issued security measures for 21 individuals, members of the criminal organization, including a senior police officer, a judge in office at the time of the criminal activity, a lawyer, and two journalists.

The security measures are as follows:

18 defendants have been placed in pre-trial detention (including the former judge and the senior police officer).
The first-instance anti-corruption court has placed 1 lawyer under house arrest and issued mandatory appearance before judicial police for 2 journalists

The operation for the execution of the security measures, which is supported by Europol and other Albanian and European law enforcement agencies, is ongoing. In order to maintain the integrity of this operation, the Special Prosecution will release more information regarding this investigation tomorrow.
