A Transport Security Administration team, on a visit to Albania to certify the safety of Rinas airport for transatlantic lines, was hosted by the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Maksim Et’hemaj, on Tuesday.

The head of Albania’s Civil Aviation Authority said a few days ago that direct flights between Tirana and New York are projected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.

Tirana International Airport expects to receive and handle more than 8.4 million passengers this year.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, talks with TSA officials focused on the Balkan Spirit, a project funded by the Homeland Security and the US Department of State to boost aviation security capacities.
